I realize now that Daddy taught us to roast meat on the fire not only to snack but to force the coming together of the family. Each of us six kids roast meat over the fire with our children and grandchildren. My Daddy had insight that we are only now gaining. Roasting meat over the fire forces conversation, and that is good. Thank you, Daddy, for teaching us to talk to one another through the roasting of meat. Daddy was a wise man. I spent the afternoon roasting meat with my children and grandchildren. It was wonderful. I love my babies. I love my Daddy and the lessons he passed on in his wisdom.
